Example of a Metastatic Lung Cancer in a Rabbit Maintaining QOL (Quality of Life) with Cordy
Information provided by: Usagi no Byoin JoyJoy
[Report on Improvement with Sole Administration of Cordy]
April 2016
The rabbit visited the clinic with difficulty breathing. X-rays could not be taken, but the rabbit stabilized after six days of antibiotics and homotoxicol injection.
May 2016
The rabbit visited the clinic with frequent sneezing (40-50 times) and eyelid protrusion due to difficulty breathing. X-rays revealed a large tumor pressing against the heart. The rabbit was initially given Cordy alongside enrofloxacin, Lasix, and prednisolone for about four days, but due to difficulty in administering the medications, only Cordy (0.4g/kg) was given thereafter. An oxygen box was also rented.
July 2016
The rabbit had more periods of calm breathing and improved appetite compared to before the onset of the symptoms. The rabbit could be taken out of the oxygen box for about 30 minutes without any issues and was scheduled for a re-examination once it could stay out for longer periods. Although it was in question whether a single bottle of Cordy would suffice, the rabbit was already on its second bottle, to the delight of the owner.
Note:
The rabbit continued its battle with illness using only Cordy and the oxygen room but passed away on February 28, 2017. Despite the terminal nature of the illness, the rabbit lived energetically to the extent that it was easy to forget about the serious illness. The owner reported that the rabbit was able to eat an apple the morning of its sudden downturn the day before it passed away.
[Comment from the Laboratory]
Rabbits are very susceptible to stress, and compared to dogs and cats, it can often be challenging to conduct active examinations. However, even for such delicate rabbits, Cordy is unlikely to burden the body and has the potential to stabilize their QOL and improve their condition.
Improving Prognosis for Delicate Pets
For pets who are not resilient to stress, even taking them to the hospital can worsen their condition. We are conducting research in collaboration with veterinary hospitals to determine whether it is possible to stabilize the immune system of such delicate pets without causing stress.
